While Apple and its rivals have enabled TV viewing on a huge number of mobile devices, nobody has fully and truly revolutionized traditional TV.

When Recode’s Walt Mossberg talks about a “fundamental” reworking of TV, he means an experience where all content from every platform is consolidated into one place, something akin to the way music lives on Spotify or Apple Music. He outlines several companies who have come close, and details others he encountered at Code Media, who are working toward services that resemble the above vision. Unfortunately, he believes, we are probably still a long way off.
