Megadeth is no stranger to trying out new technology, stating that they were the first metal act to have a website back in the mid-Nineties. Now they are jumping into VR not with just one song, but five songs that will be packaged into an app to experienced on a VR viewer like Google Cardboard.
In a special edition of their latest album Dystopia, fans will receive a branded cardboard viewer and instructions on how to download the album’s app where a code unlocks the exclusive content. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves in the band’s performances that will appear within the fallen city of a dystopian world modeled after the world created in Megadeth’s new music video for “The Threat Is Real.”
